Maybe I should have entitled this episode "I don't WANT to call," because that's what I meant. One of my pet peeves is dealing with shoddy customer service-- whether it's by phone or in person.  So I'm going to vent a little bit.  (Hint: Usher is right!)

Friends don’t hurt friends—or at least the way it should be. Everyone has a story or two about getting stabbed in the back. What about friends who just suddenly stop all communication with you, and give you no reason? Dr. Jan Yager’s book, "When Friendship Hurts: How to Deal with Friends Who Betray, Abandon or Wound You," talks about the realities of friendship gone wrong. How do you deal with toxic friends? Why do some people have a pattern of picking the wrong friends, and end up getting used time after time? How can we choose positive, healthy friendships that enrich our lives, and spot them early on, weeding out the “frenemies” waiting to happen?

My work with teenage girls, from my books about self-esteem, to speaking engagements, is based on things I wish I had done differently, and things I would tell my younger self.
Lately this podcast has been my platform of choice to continue to spread my message to girls and young women that YOU ARE ENOUGH.  So in today's show, I'm going to share with you just 7 of the many things I think every woman, whether young or not-so-young, needs to hear, know, and BELIEVE.  Because it's one thing to hear something about yourself, another thing to know it. But you can't stop there. You have to BELIEVE it so it can manifest into action.  A person who KNOWS right from wrong, or good from bad, will continue to do the same old things, and keep their same negative habits UNLESS they BELIEVE something different. Something better.  So if you know these 7 things, GREAT. But we need to BELIEVE. And sometimes, we forget and just need a fresh reminder.

According to the American Kidney Fund (AKF), there are 30 million Americans living with kidney disease. My husband was one of them, until he died in April. June 21st, would have been his 43rd birthday.

AKF provided assistance for us when he became unable to work. The VA and Social Security didn't help us, but AKF did. So I'm holding a fundraiser in his honor to go to AKF, where 97 cents of every dollar raised goes back to patients and programming.

The biggest cause of kidney disease is diabetes. You can donate blood or platelets for chemo patients. You can contribute to the American Kidney Fund, which has many programs to provide assistance to kidney patients and living kidney donors.

My fundraising goal is $1,000 in 21 days. Visit bit.ly/GeorgeLNieves to contribute.

Love means *action*. I hope you'll decide to do something in honor of him, me, or someone YOU love.  Let's help some folks who are still with us. Thanks so much!

Women are expected to meet demands and fulfill responsibilities in the professional world and at home. With professional and family obligations, talented, competent women often lock themselves into a "trap" of responsibilities and obligations with little to no time to pursue their talents or passions. As women strive to please their superiors, significant others and co-workers, they find themselves falling behind on the things that matter most. Thus, they fall into "The Strong Woman Trap."

Author and Coach Sasha Mobley suggests that women practice certain methods to have the lives they want and the respect they deserve. In this podcast, she explains the "The Strong Woman Trap," the ways to escape from it, the secret to empowerment, and discovering the support that was there all along.
