As you coast through your Facebook timeline, does it not seem that your "friends" are living a fabulous life? Do you ever feel a smidge of discontent? Or maybe it's not personal relationships, but business successes that drive you a little crazy on the inside with each one you see? And if it affects you a certain way, what goes on in the minds of teens? They get so much of their sense of self-worth and ideals from their peers and interactions on social media.

Join us on this episode as I talk with Shan Thomas Creative Marketing Specialist and CEO of EntrepreNewHER in Atlanta, GA about:

  • How to manage social media, self-esteem, selfies and shaming, and
  • How to protect ourselves and prevent our children from pain in the aftermath of sexting and revenge porn

Just as often as single women are asked, "Why are you still single?," childless women of a certain age (regardless of marital status) are frequently asked about when they will have children. There seems to be a societal norm and attitude that women SHOULD bear at least one child by a certain age. Sometimes they are pressed even after having one child, to have more.  But:
  • What if you are childless by choice, enjoying your life with no one else to answer to?
  • What if you have tried to get pregnant or adopt, without success?
  • What if you're just annoyed by the nerve of someone asking such a personal question (sometimes with judgment)?

In this episode, I interview Tangie Henry, RN, Certified Life Coach and Certified Personal Trainer, Founder, Inspired Sistah LLC and she gives her personal testimony about being childless by choice.

Have you ever been offended by someone who would not apologize for what they did to you? What happens if you move on, and they come back and interact with you as if the incident never occurred?  And if they do apologize, why couldn't you accept their version-- was it the words they used, or their lack of sincerity, or something within you that is hurting on a deeper level?  My guest is Dr. Walter Sims, breaking down these scenarios and more.

In this episode, you will learn...

  • How to recognize the language of apology you expect and respond to best
  • How to effectively confront someone who has offended you
  • How to recognize when you have not done your own work
  • How to let go and move on after the offense, even if the offender does not apologize

How can we create and cultivate friendships as an adult? With so many demands on our time, including jobs, school and family obligations, sometimes we don't get to spend time with our friends as much as we'd like. Months and even years can go by without seeing friends who live in the same area. In an age of social media and technology, we can easily become more distant and disconnected.  Allen Wagner is my guest in Part 1 of this topic.

In this episode, you will learn...
  • The four different levels/categories of friendship and how to distinguish between them
  • How to let go of a friendship you have outgrown
  • How to cultivate existing friendships that you want to maintain
  • The best way to reach out to someone new (or an acquaintance) to pursue or deepen a friendship
